Focus on Your Superpower

By |February 13th, 2019|Categories: Uncategorized|

As entrepreneurs, we feel like we have to do it all in our business. We often want to play the superhero. All. The. Time. But, I will let you in on a little secret, every superhero has a weakness. The best superhero knows what their weakness is and understands what they need to do in order to balance their strengths and weakness.

The Justice League and the Avengers are groups of heroes that have learned to focus only on what they do best. Each of the heroes has a weakness. They learned that relying on a team of others to counter that weakness makes each of them stronger.

Often as entrepreneurs, we believe we have to juggle every single aspect of our business. We think the only way to grow our business is by keeping control of everything involving our business. This mindset is one of the biggest reasons why entrepreneurs struggle to grow their business.

And just like superheroes, we as entrepreneurs need to recognize our weakness and build a team to counterbalance that weakness. By creating a team to work in the areas we are weak in, we are able to focus only on our strengths. Those things that are going to take our business to the next level, create and increase our income.

Are you using your superpower effectively?

The truth is we all have a specific superpower and by trying to do everything ourselves we are weakening our business. It’s smart to leverage your time with a talented team of experts.

With the entrepreneurial lifestyle being as hectic as it is for most small business owners, anything we can do to leverage our time better, get more done and ultimately boost productivity is a good thing.

If you are overwhelmed, tired, frustrated and just plain sick of trying to do it all alone, contact us, we can help!

Should You Hire a Virtual Assistant?

By |November 13th, 2018|Categories: Uncategorized|

We, as business owners, are always trying to manage it all, especially in our startup phase of business. Managing it all can have a detrimental effect in the long run. Why? We can easily become consumed with doing all the backend work ourselves, in turn chewing up our valuable time that we could be focusing on our business growth.  Establishing your foundations from the start is a great way to ensure as you grow and build your business, you are on solid ground.

Do you feel stressed out?

Are you feeling bogged down by repetitive tasks?  Are you ignoring core tasks to take care of administrative ones?  Is more and more of your free time being eaten away by day to day tasks every week?

Break free from the stress and always feeling like you are overwhelmed by hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA).  A VA is a highly skilled professional who specializes in providing professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) tasks, giving you the time necessary to focus on your core business.

Successful entrepreneurs realize the importance of time and therefore don’t do everything themselves (especially the less important routine tasks).  A VA can help maximize your time by removing the administrative tasks which are bogging you down. This allows you to focus on the important tasks only you can do!

Don’t know where to start?

Start small.

Repetitive tasks that you can quickly explain and get off your plate are the best way to get going. These tasks can include:

  • Social Media Scheduling
  • Website Management
  • Client Management
  • Newsletters

An experienced VA can also help you to look at your business to see where you can increase your productivity by delegating tasks.  One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is trying to do too much themselves and not delegating enough tasks.

Administrative tasks are a VA’s specialty, is it yours?

The answer most likely is no. By delegating these tasks, you can get back to your specialty – the business you are growing.   It’s not just about who is more skilled in performing these tasks. It’s also about understanding that your business can’t grow if you are doing all the tasks yourself. You must delegate to be successful.

Entrepreneurs start their business as a one-man shop.

In order to grow and expand their bottom line, they need more employees. Also, the right employees which can help grow their business to the next level.

Are you ready?

If used correctly, a VA can be a valuable tool to an entrepreneur.  Though it can be scary to make the decision to bring on another person into your world, remember, a VA rates their success on your success.  We want our clients to succeed!

What does “Working In” your business mean?

Working in your business refers to the day-to-day tasks that keep the business running. It is not just generating the product or the service that you provide, but includes:

  • Marketing
  • Maintaining your website
  • Posting to your business social media accounts
  • Analyzing marketing data
  • Creating systems
  • Paying Bills
  • Sending invoices
  • Managing employees
  • Answering emails
  • Answering phone calls
  • Dealing with any problems that arise during the day
  • Building the product or providing the service, like speaking/coaching

So, what is “Working On” your business?

Working on your business is performing the activities that will lead your business towards growth and bigger goals, eventually achieving your dreams, and it includes;

  • Perfecting on you message
  • Meeting with customers
  • Networking
  • Continuing your education
    • podcasts, books, webinars, classes
  • Setting business goals
  • Talking with mentors/coaches

Why do you need to spend time working on your business?

Yes, there are many things that need to be done every day in your business to provide a well-developed product/service people need. It is estimated that 15% of your client base will leave every year. Therefore, you need a system in place to bring in new customers and clients.

When you’re working in your business by developing marketing plans, implementing sales funnel systems, maintaining social media posts/blogging, and setting business goals, you set-up your business for continuous growth and many years of success.

However, remember, the biggest asset to your business is YOU. Through continuing education and mentorship, you will grow as your business grows, becoming more efficient and better able to accomplish the tasks and strategies required by your business. This is how you become the strong leader your business needs.

Working on your business is what will ultimately bring growth. You must be able to use your strengths. You can do that through the leveraging of your time by the delegation of tasks you don’t need to do yourself.

What is more important working on your business or in your business?

Working in your business is obviously necessary as well as putting out the little fires when they come up. If you don’t,  you will soon have a forest fire on your hands! If you don’t adjust your product or services to what your customers need, they will go somewhere else. Additionally, if you are not doing the data analysis, systems implementation, and marketing, you will soon find yourself without any customers.

Your business needs YOU to set the business goals, perfect your message and connect with your potential clients or your business will begin to stagnate.

How can you do both? Let’s first look at some mistakes before getting to the solution.

What are 3 Common Mistakes?

  1. No prioritization

If you do not decide which aspects of running your business are most important for growth, you will constantly be chasing the little things, feeling like nothing ever gets done.

  1. No Balance

Without balance you will either spend too much time working on your products and services while neglecting marketing and yourself or too much time building your business without a solid product or service to go with it. For example, when you finish a project you’ll have nothing to replace it with because all your time was spent working in your business instead of on your business.

  1. Burnout

The worst that can happen is burnout. You get completely mired in dealing with problems and daily tasks instead of what drew you to start your business in the first place. You know that to launch the new service you are so excited about you MUST have an announcement sent to your email list. The new program just isn’t working. Every YouTube “How To” video has been watched but still the customers aren’t calling.

Frustration sets in. This isn’t how you thought your business would grow. You are stuck in the everyday tasks you don’t like. You begin to hate your business. Sound familiar?

What is the best way to accomplish balance?

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. You don’t have time to learn everything. Therefore, delegate your weak spots so your strengths can shine.

“… delegation is never abdication.”  Ray Silverstein

Knowing and admitting when it is time to delegate will bring peace back into your business. An important aspect of delegating is trust. When you delegate a task, don’t micromanage. After all, the purpose of delegation is to let go of stress.

We can help you find that balance when you delegate working in your business to us.

Imagine spending all the time you need on your vision while we handle the logistics.

Grow Your Business Through Delegation

By |November 7th, 2017|Categories: Uncategorized|

Business owners often times try to do everything. It’s your business, your baby so why would you want to entrust that to someone else. After all in reality the buck stops here when it comes to your business. As a busy entrepreneur, mother, and wife, I know I can’t do it all when it comes to my business and the truth is neither can you. The fact of the matter is if you really want to grow a business you have to learn to delegate.

Delegation is a hard practice for most business owners to wrap their head around. There’s always questions about what to delegate, who to delegate it to, when to delegate, what realistically are the thing only YOU can do.

Let’s start with the what

The reality of business in the digital age, is that there is not much that cannot be delegated. What you delegate really depends on where your business is currently and the direction you’d like to grow.

In the early stages of business entrepreneurs often delegate their virtual office management, these tasks can ranges from transcription to project management. They are the back end business tasks that HAVE to be done for your business to run, but that DON’T have to be done by you.

As your business grows often the task that you delegate are the more complex issues. They are they things that require strategy as well as technical knowledge. These items often fall in the Digital Marketing realm. This is where you can get help to catapult your business to the next level.

The Who depends on your particular business.

Who you delegate to should be someone who is well-versed in the areas of business that drain your energy or that you don’t completely understand. They don’t have to be well-versed in your particular area of expertise. Your expertise, is where you shine! So that is the area that you would want to continue to do yourself.

Remember that you cannot build a business alone. Online business contains many layers and functions — email marketing, social media marketing (which itself has so many channels), content creation, etc. Even if you stop sleeping, there is no way for you to learn, understand and perfect every area of business. There are just not enough hours in a day and night for you to do everything that is required for your business to grow.

But there are those out there that specialize in the areas of business that you do not. Find that person that not only has the skill set to balance your business, but also has the personality to work with you. Keep in mind that these people will become partners in your business. That means being able to communicate with them effectively is essential.

Growing Your Business

The best leaders in business have learned to delegate. They have realized that they don’t have to know every aspect of their business. They just have to know how to hire the people who are skilled in the areas that they lack. If you try to do everything, you’ll soon find that you are disappointed in your lack of growth or on a direct road to burnout.

Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or exhausted? Are you trying to juggle everything yourself? Have you really looked at your business to determine what it is that drains your energy versus what really fuels your fire.

By focusing on your voice and vision, and allowing someone else to focus on the other tasks needed to run your business, your business will thrive!

What is Your Why?

By |May 20th, 2016|Categories: Uncategorized|

What is your why? That’s a question that’s been asked of me several times over the years as I’ve been growing my business. It’s something that I’ve had difficult time answering. Often our Why gets confused with our What or our How, but today it finally clicked for me.

In the past several weeks I’ve had this recurring theme appear about my Why. The real reason I truly enjoy being an online business manager/virtual assistant.

Recently, my business coach Kathy Goughenour posted a quiz that helped discover our Brand Archetype. I have to admit that I love these types of quizzes. Especially those that focus on your strengths, your assets, what you do well. Or more importantly, what you don’t do well, giving you the opportunity to improve yourself. This quiz gave me a perspective on my business brand that I hadn’t thought of before. According to the Brand Archetype quiz I am a provocateur. The description for this Archetype states that the strengths of a provocateur are; Play, making jokes, joy, living in the moment, enjoying the fullness of life and experience, fostering innovation. When I first read the assessment I have to admit I was a little skeptical that it was accurate. I don’t see myself playing or making jokes during business, on the other hand I do enjoy the fullness of life and I live to ideate.

Today, I was at a networking event, and the topic up for discussion was; What is your Why? Again I had trouble defining my Why. I can easily discuss my What & my How, but What is my Why? During this event we were asked to turn to the person next to you and discuss your  What, How and then your Why.

The person on my right happened to be Amy Latta, who is a life coach for women business owners. We spent time discussing our Whys. Both of us having a difficult time articulating the Why of our business.

One of the things that I kept coming back to was; I love to help businesses grow! I have a passion for helping another person grow their business. I love seeing the end result and knowing I had a part in it. Amy’s response was why? I looked at her and said because it’s fun. She said that’s your why. And you know what she’s right! I work as a OBM/VA because it’s fun to grow a business! Both my own and my clients.

The description of the the provocateur is in direct alignment with my Why! The verbiage I might use is different, but the fact of the matter is that I love business and I love helping to grow other people’s business because I find it fun. AND I want my clients to have fun while growing their business.

I can give my clients the time to focus on the aspects of their business they enjoy. And because of this enjoyment their businesses GROW!

What is your why?

Are working in your business, and not spending enough time focused on your Voice & Vision?
